Peter Norton & Mary Gilonne
Peter Norton & Mary Gilonne – Sublime Norfolk
Peter Norton is a project photographer living in Aylsham and this work is a collaboration with Mary Gilonne, an award winning poet. This is our second collaboration and explores the philosophical nature of the horizon and the feelings it can engender. The horizon crystallises our perennial preoccupation with knowledge and existence. In the sublime there is a cultural awareness of the limited nature of self and the intense experiences which lie beyond conscious control.
These pictures of empty vistas are about patterns, perspectives and colour. The textures of the natural world are revealed in all their complexity. The abstract nature of these landscape photographs allows our focus to dwell on the endlessly changing horizon and the myriad of possibilities it represents. Mary’s poems explore each photograph and are her feelings about the overwhelming vast emptiness of this North Norfolk landscape. The juxtaposition of pictures and poems have a long history in the Far East
Each piece of art is a limited edition of 15. The pictures are supplied professionally mounted, ready to hang. These are Giclee prints on Canson Aquarelle Rag paper. This heavyweight archival paper has a matte and textured surface. They are mounted on aluminium Dibond with an aluminium subframe.
