Lesley Williams has lived in Norfolk for a number of years and has been a regular visitor to Wells since childhood. She studied History of Art before specialising in ceramics and then going on to teach art. She has always painted, using a variety of media, but mainly in oils or acrylics.
An ever changing garden is a great inspiration as well as seascapes experienced while messing around in boats or walking along the North Norfolk coast.
Some paintings are started or completed on site or later in the studio using sketches, photographs, notes of mood and emotion. Other works simply ’emerge’ from an initial underpainting, used to cover the white of the canvas. Expressive colour reflects mood or sense of place. Something initially planned can turn into the unexpected.
She exhibits regularly with West Norfolk Artists Association and had a third solo exhibition last year.
