This personal landmark exhibition will feature a few paintings from earlier years, as well as a number of the small boat studies for which he is renowned. For several years, Andrew has experimented with a more contemporary style of cityscapes, few of which have had a public airing. By way of a complete contrast, a number of these intriguing studies will be shown here for the first time.

‘Capturing the Moment’ by John Patchett IEA

Friday 17th August –  Wednesday 22nd August

Open Monday to Saturday 9.00am – 5.00pm (Sunday 19th open 11.00am – 4.00pm)

Few can capture the essence of a place better than John Patchett. His masterly control over the medium and his understanding of the play of light on a subject puts him and his work in the forefront of the East Anglian art scene. He finds a wealth of creative inspiration for his paintings in the ever-changing choice of locations. Inevitably his attention is often drawn to the inhabitants of a particular place. This will be the fourth major one-man exhibition to be held at the Gallery and as with previous sell-out exhibitions this selection of 80 new pieces of work is sure to please his ever-growing clientele. Besides being awarded full membership of The Institute of East Anglian Artists (IEA), he won the ‘public vote’ for his Norwich Market painting at last years ‘Paint Out, Norwich’ plein air painting competition. John will be demonstrating his much-admired pastel painting technique during the exhibition.
