Judy Newstead-Howard BA (Hons) UK Contemporary Artist
Judy is a British artist, living and working in Norfolk England.

From childhood, she has always had a passion for drawing and painting.

In 2008, she graduated from Anglia Ruskin University Cambridge with a Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree in Fine Art.

Judy’s artwork is mainly based on her love of classical painting and sculpture, although she takes inspiration from everything around her. She likes to put her own contemporary and unique take on the subjects that old masters explored.

She studies a wide range of subject matter, but is particularly drawn to the figurative and portraiture in art. Light and shade is integral to everything that she paints, concentrating specifically on the form and contour of a subject.

Judy uses acrylic paint to create her works, with some of them containing a three-dimensional element in the form of drapery. She is interested in the close association with material and cloth and the human form and the way in which the two interact with each other. This fascination can be seen in her original creative approach to all of her paintings.

Her use of acrylic paint allows her to create a smooth surface on the canvas and enables her to re-coat colour quickly. Each shade is painstakingly layered many times to create the finished effect. She uses professional grade canvasses and canvas board for all of her works, and paints on any scale from small to very large.

Judy welcomes all enquiries for the commissioning of an artwork, and is happy to answer any questions on her work.
