As a boy growing up in Essex, Geoff spent many hours making model sailing ships from plans and drawings. From that developed his fascination with working boats; the boatyards in Maldon, the creeks and marshes, and the yachts sailing in the estuaries.
Since moving to Suffolk, Geoff has tried to capture the atmosphere of the beaches with their fishing boats and huts, depicting a more traditional way of life. Having recently visited Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth, he is eager to begin exploring and capturing the surrounding dockyards.
Geoff is now planning to spend more time painting Norfolk; focusing particularly on the northern coast. Having worked mainly in oils over the last few years, Geoff now intends to work in pencil and watercolour again. This will allow him the chance to work outside with all the spontaneity that comes with painting on site.
